The Raptors are waiving forward Svi Mykhailiuk, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
This news comes just a couple months after he exercised the $1.9 million player option on his contract.
Mykhailiuk, 25, is 6-foot-7 appeared in 56 games last season, averaging 4.7 points. The No. 47 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Mykhailiuk has often served as a capable fill-in as a shooter for the Raptors. He has also spent time with the Lakers, Thunder and Pistons.
“Mykhailiuk, who’s currently playing for Ukraine’s national team at FIBA EuroBasket, is seeking a fresh start elsewhere,” Charania wrote.
That may not be such a bad idea, given that Mykhailiuk ended last season behind the likes of Gary Trent Jr., Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby and perhaps a few others on the depth chart.
