There’s a disconnect in Milwaukee. It’s not subtle.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are “not connected” right now, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. That tracks with everything we’ve been hearing. Different timelines. Different priorities.

The Bucks are looking ahead. Health. Reset. Next season.

Giannis is wired to play. Always has been. He wants to play now. The Bucks want to shut him down.

That tension has defined a season that hasn’t come close to expectations. Milwaukee is outside the playoff picture, and the roster decisions haven’t helped matters.

Windhorst pointed to last summer as a major pivot point. The Bucks moved off Damian Lillard’s deal, stretching the money, then committed big dollars to Myles Turner.

It was a massive financial gamble.

“The entire season has really been a complete disappointment,” Windhorst said.

Now the Bucks are stuck trying to balance two tracks. Keep Giannis happy while also protecting the future. That’s a tough place to live.

Right now, the two sides aren’t seeing it the same way.
