Rival teams may be circling LaMelo Ball, but the Hornets are not putting him on the market for now.

That is the latest from NBA insider Jake Fischer, who pushed back Thursday on a Yahoo Sports report that said Ball had grown frustrated and was open to a trade.

Kelly Iko of Yahoo Sports wrote earlier in the day that both Ball and the Hornets were open to a split. Fischer said he made several calls after that report and the temperature was different.

“I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Hornets are not actively looking to move LaMelo Ball any time soon,” Fischer said on his Bleacher Report livestream.

He added that multiple voices inside the organization, including Ball, the coaching staff and front office executives, want to see how Charlotte looks once Brandon Miller returns before making any big decisions.

“LaMelo Ball is not asking out, to my understanding,” Fischer said. “And the Hornets are not actively looking to trade him by any stretch right now.”

Fischer also noted that rival teams are keeping an eye on two other former All-Star guards: Ja Morant and Trae Young.

Both are injured, and both teams have publicly denied any interest in moving them.

Marc Stein of The Stein echoed that stance in his latest newsletter, reporting that the Hornets, Grizzlies and Hawks have each said they will not listen to offers for their max guards.

Stein added that some rival teams remain skeptical and believe one or more of Ball, Morant or Young could become available before the February deadline.
