The Rockets have agreed to Exhibit 10 contracts guard Daishen Nix and forward Tyler Bey, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Nix, 19, is 6-foot-5 and spent last season with the G League Ignite, alongside Rockets rookie and shooting guard Jalen Green, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Nix had originally committed to UCLA out of high school.
He did not get drafted after averaging 8.8 points and 5.3 assists, primarily coming off the bench in 15 G League games last season.
“Fluid ball handler who operates at different speeds well. Has outstanding body control and pace,” ESPN wrote of Nix. “Can power through defenders with his strong frame, using long strides, polished footwork and impressive creativity as a finisher.”
Bey, 23, is 6-7 and was drafted by the 76ers in the second round (No. 36 overall) in 2020, with Philadelphia promptly sending him to the Mavericks as part of the Seth Curry trade. Bey also spent last season in the G League, averaging 15.1 points and 9.2 rebounds.
“The Rockets have 18 players under contract, including Bey and Nix and two-way addition Matthew Hurt,” Feigen wrote. “They have made qualifying offers to last season’s two-way players, Armoni Brooks and Anthony Lamb, who could bring the Rockets to the training camp limit of 20 players.”
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary deal that does not include the possibility of bonuses.
