The Rockets have agreed to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract with guard Armoni Brooks, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Brooks, 23, is 6-foot-3 and appeared in 20 games with Houston to close out the season, averaging a somewhat surprising 11.2 points and 3.4 rebounds.
Now, he’ll be fitting for a spot in a Rockets backcourt rotation that includes the likes of John Wall, Kevin Porter Jr. and No. 2 overall draft pick Jalen Green, among others.
“Brooks had long been considered likely to be with the Rockets at camp given their appreciation for his play and growth last season and his belief that he could continue to improve and carve out a niche with the Rockets,” Feigen wrote.
Brooks went undrafted out of the University of Houston in 2019. He has spent time in the G League with the College Park Skyhawks and Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors confirmed the Brooks news.
“The Rockets have one final spot for camp and could consider adding Anthony Lamb, who signed a two-way contract with the team last March,” Shaw noted. “Both Brooks and Lamb played summer league with Houston in Las Vegas.”
