The Warriors are approaching a key date with Jonathan Kuminga, and around the league, executives are paying attention.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, some rival executives at the G League Winter Showcase in Orlando over the weekend were curious how much playing time Kuminga will receive before he becomes trade-eligible on January 15.

Kuminga has fallen out of Golden State’s rotation in recent weeks, prompting questions about how the Warriors will handle him as the deadline approaches.

Fischer noted that from a team-building standpoint, it may be in Golden State’s best interest to prioritize Kuminga’s health over minutes, especially if he’s going to be a name discussed in trade conversations.

Importantly, none of the executives Fischer spoke with indicated that their evaluation of Kuminga would change based on how he plays — or doesn’t play — over the next few weeks.

That suggests the league’s view of the 21-year-old is already well formed.

As for potential destinations, a deal with the Kings appears unlikely unless a third team becomes involved. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that the Warriors remain unenthused about Sacramento’s available assets, including guard Malik Monk.

Monk, who is said to be available, has generated limited interest around the league due to his contract, which includes nearly $42 million owed over the two seasons following this one.
