Free agent point guard Shabazz Napier is leaving Russian club BC Zenit in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as relayed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Napier, 30, last spent time in the NBA in 2019-20 with the Timberwolves and Wizards, averaging 10.3 points in 56 games overall. He has also spent time with the Nets, Blazers, Magic and Heat.
An ankle injury had sidelined Napier recently, but was set to return to the club, located in Saint Petersburg. Multiple Russian teams have opted to play home games outside the country once play for those clubs resumes.
Napier appeared in two games for Zenit, averaging 16.5 points on 73 percent shooting.
Napier, 30, has played for six NBA teams, including the Washington Wizards last season.
