The 76ers have agreed to a one-year, $3.2 million contract with veteran point guard Patrick Beverley, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT.
Beverley, 34, started last season with the Lakers before being traded to the Magic, agreeing to a buyout, then finishing with the Bulls. In a total of 67 games, he averaged 6.7 points and shot 34 percent on 3-pointers.
His strength, of course, is defense and energy, offering similar qualities in the backcourt that small forward P.J. Tucker does at forward.
Along with the Lakers and Bulls, Beverley has spent time with Timberwolves, Clippers and Rockets.
The Sixers reportedly are continuing to search for trades centered on star guard James Harden. Former Raptors coach Nick Nurse replaced Doc Rivers after the season.
