The 76ers have named Coby Karl coach of the G League’s Delaware Blue Coats, while officially announcing changes to the coaching staff.
Along with that, Jamie Young has joined Doc Rivers’ staff as an assistant, and Dwayne Jones has been promoted to assistant coach/skill development. Jones had previously served under Rivers as a skill development coach.
“I’m excited to add even more talent to what I consider to be the best coaching staff in the NBA,” Rivers said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to create synergy between the 76ers and Blue Coats is important for our program’s success and the talented coaches on our staff make our players and this organization better.”
Karl most recently coached the South Bay Lakers (2016-21), following an NBA playing career that included stops with the Lakers, Cavaliers and Warriors, as well as in the G League. He is the son of longtime former NBA coach George Karl.
J.P. Clark and Isaiah Fox will serve as Karl’s assistants with the Blue Coats.
