Recently announced NBA MVP Joel Embiid admitted he is in pain following the 76ers’ Game 2 road loss to the Celtics on Wednesday night.Joel Embiid is defended by Al Horford

Embiid missed Game 1, a Sixers win, with a knee sprain. Then he gave it a go for Game 2.

“With what I have, I’m supposed to be out 4-6 weeks … got this out of the way,” Embiid said, via Kyle Neubeck of the Philly Voice. “Disappointed by the loss, but that’s a step toward getting back to myself.”

Embiid averaged a league-high 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks during the regular season. That included averages of a whopping 36.8 points and 11.8 rebounds against the Celtics.

But he was limited to 15 points and three rebounds in the Sixers’ loss on Wednesday.

Nonetheless, he indicated he intends to keep pushing through the pain as the series shifts to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4.

“I think I’ll be fine. I’ve played through a lot,” Embiid said, via Neubeck. “We’ve got a big chance, and we’ve got to take advantage of it.”

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. EST.
