The injury issues just keep racking up for the 76ers, as star center Joel Embiid will miss at least the next two games with a left mid-foot sprain, as relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Sixers later confirmed the injury.
Embiid, 28, joins starting guard Tyrese Maxey on the sideline. As we relayed here, Maxey is expected to miss three-to-four weeks with a foot fracture. The Sixers are also without guard James Harden, who has been out with a foot strain of his own. Harden isn’t expected back until early December at the soonest.
Along with all that, forward Tobias Harris has missed the previous two games with a sore hip. He at least could be close to a return, via Gina Mizell of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Embiid likely suffered the injury in Saturday’s win over the Timberwolves, when Sixers forward Georges Niang accidentally fell on his leg during a fast break, as relayed by Tim Bontemps of ESPN.
Embiid has been his usual fantastic self in the first 12 games, averaging 32.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and even 4.6 assists.
“He’s so good right now,” coach Doc Rivers said after Friday’s win over the Bucks, in which Embiid erupted for 32 points and 11 boards.
