All-Star center Joel Embiid underwent surgery Monday to repair ligament damage in his right thumb, the 76ers announced, as relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Along with that, Embiid underwent a procedure on his left index finger. He is expected to be ready for training camp, Charania noted.
Embiid, 28, was named second-team All-NBA and is coming off an NBA MVP-type season, averaging 30.6 points and 11.7 rebounds in 68 regular-season contests.
The Sixers were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Heat. It has been reported that they may be looking to add a third All-Star to Embiid and guard James Harden, as we relayed previously.
