Free agency violations have cost the 76ers a 2023 and ’24 second-round pick, the NBA announced in a statement on Wednesday.
Per the league, the Sixers engaged in free agency talks with forwards P.J. Tucker and Danuel House prior to the start of the negotiating window at the end of June, resulting in the penalties.
The Sixers cooperated fully with the investigation, the league added.
“The Philadelphia 76ers fully cooperated with the NBA’s investigation and acknowledge the league’s ruling,” the team said in a statement. “We’re moving forward, focused on the season ahead.”
Both Tucker and House eventually signed with Philadelphia and are in their first seasons with the team.
The team also issued a statement in the wake of the ruling:
“The Philadelphia 76ers fully cooperated with the NBA’s investigation and acknowledge the league’s ruling. We’re moving forward, focused on the season ahead.” https://t.co/rxxRxzmwaz

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the NBA did not find any wrongdoing in the Sixers’ offseason negotiations with standout guard James Harden, who took a near $15 million pay cut to return to the team.
