Toronto Raptors guard/forward Bruce Brown is supposedly available, but don’t expect the Philadelphia 76ers to be among the teams interested.
Per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers will not pursue a trade for Brown, acquired in last week’s Pascal Siakam trade with the Indiana Pacers. The Raptors are widely expected to flip Brown to another team before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
“Despite speculation and rumors, it’s unlikely that the Sixers will pursue Toronto Raptors new swingman Bruce Brown before the NBA trade deadline, according to league sources,” Pompey wrote.
Two teams interested in Brown: the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Meanwhile, the Sixers aren’t likely to pursue a trade for Brown or other reportedly available Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine or Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. They didn’t make a run at Siakam, either.
Brown, 27, signed a two-year, $45 million contract with the Pacers over the summer, fresh off winning a title with the Denver Nuggets.
He scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds against the Bulls in his Raptors debut, shooting 7-of-10 from the field.
In 33 games with Indiana, he averaged 12.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists, shooting 48 percent overall and 33 percent on 3-pointers.
Overall, he carries NBA career averages of 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists with the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, Nuggets, Pacers and Raptors.
Philadelphia (28-13) sits in third place in the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games back of the East-leading Boston Celtics and just a half-game behind the second-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.
