It didn’t take long for power forward Kenneth Lofton Jr. to find another team. In fact, it was about 48 hours.
Lofton, 21, is 6-foot-7 and was just recently waived by the Memphis Grizzlies to make room on the roster for star guard Ja Morant.
Now, it appears he has agreed to a two-way deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
A second-year big man who went undrafted out of Louisiana Tech in 2022, Lofton received limited time despite the injuries to Steven Adams and other members of the Grizzlies’ frontcourt this season.
Last season, he appeared in 24 games as a rookie, averaging 5.0 points and 2.1 rebounds. He’s played in 15 games this year.
Philadelphia doesn’t have a true power forward to play alongside Joel Embiid, so the door is open for Lofton to become a regular contributor and elevate himself to a standard contract.
