The 76ers’ backcourt has taken another hit, as guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a small fracture in his left foot, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Maxey, 22, is 6-foot-2 and now joins starting guard James Harden on the injured list. Harden has been out since early November with a foot strain, and isn’t expected to return until next month. He has, however, relayed to reporters that he is indeed on schedule — making an early December return seem doable.
Maxey is in his third season and has burst out of the gates, averaging 22.9 points and 4.4 assists, shooting 46 percent from the field, in his first 15 games.
The Sixers (8-7) will clearly now need more of center Joel Embiid, as well as more from the likes of guards De’Anthony Melton, Matisse Thybulle and Shake Milton.
