Some NBA Players Are Happy Mavericks Traded Luka Doncic To Lakers: ‘So Smart, I’m A Nico Harrison Fan’

The Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February. Pretty much everyone thinks Nico Harrison made a huge mistake.

However, some NBA players are happy Harrison traded Doncic to the Lakers.

“I think it’s a phenomenal decision. So smart. Wise. I’m a Nico Harrison fan,” one player told The Athletic

“Thank you. I love it,” another player said.

“I wasn’t mad at it,” a third player said.

Harrison no longer wanted to build around Doncic because of the star’s conditioning issues. Doncic, 25, is one of the best offensive players in the NBA. He guided the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last year, but Harrison wasn’t happy with Doncic’s work habits and weight problems.

While some players in the league are happy that Doncic isn’t on the Mavs anymore, most of the league believes Harrison made a major mistake.

“Terrible. Wow. Like, what did they do? I thought (the Mavs) were gonna come out of the West again two months ago. That was terrible, man. I don’t care how you slice it. To not get back what they should’ve gotten back is ridiculous. Messed the league up,” one player said.

“Terrible decision. If (Dončić) came in weighing 500 pounds, so what? He’s still averaging damn near a 30-point triple-double,” another player said.

“I think that s— was idiotic, but I don’t think it was a bad trade,” a third player said. “I just think that the way they did it and everything about it was idiotic. I think them shopping the franchise (face) of their organization — for a lot of players who already feel that this is a business (like), ‘The motherf—ers don’t care about you,’ I think it sets an example, like, ‘All right, why should I give a f— about this team if this is how they’re going (to treat me)? I came in here and I was All-NBA, like, five times in six seasons, an MVP candidate, and don’t even get told about none of this.’ I’m like, ‘This organization doesn’t give a f— about me. Why would I give a f— about any organization?’”

The Mavericks missed the playoffs this year, while Doncic and the Lakers are the third seed in the West.

If Los Angeles wins the title this season, Harrison is going to receive even more death threats from Dallas fans.
