The Spurs have officially re-signed shooting guard Joe Wieskamp, the team announced in a press release.
While terms of the deal weren’t officially released, agents Kyle McAlarney and Mark Bartelstein told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that the contract is for two-years and $4.4 million.
Wieskamp, 23, is 6-foot-6 and appeared in 29 games last season, averaging 2.1 points, after the Spurs selected him with the No. 41 overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
He actually spent most of last season on a two-way deal, but signed a standard deal in March. He then missed summer league with an ankle sprain, and his future in San Antonio was starting to seem in doubt.
This season, he will be earning more than the minimum — though it is not known if the deal is guaranteed, or if it is, for how long. Ideally, Wieskamp will offer the Spurs some outside shooting in reserve.
