The San Antonio Spurs are again signing guard David Duke Jr. to a two-way contract, agent Mike Simonetta told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Duke, 24, is 6-foot-5 and has appeared in 49 games in three seasons with the Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs. That includes four games with the Spurs last season.
He carries NBA career averages of 4.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists, with most of his pro run coming in the G League.
Duke signed a training camp contract with the Philadelphia 76ers last September but was cut before the season began. He then landed a two-way deal with the Spurs in December and lasted the season.
He will now join point guard Jamaree Bouyea as the Spurs’ two-way players for now. Rookie small forward Harrison Ingram, a second-round pick, very well could land the third and final two-way deal for San Antonio.
It’s been a fairly busy offseason for normally quiet San Antonio, which landed ex-Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes in a trade, along with signing veteran point guard Chris Paul.
Several reports suggested they were exploring the idea of Clevland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland, though that clearly never materialized.
“Cavaliers All-Star guard Darius Garland was another talented ball-handler the Spurs called about, sources said, although Cleveland has rebuffed any inbound trade interest for Garland to date,” wrote Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
