The Spurs are doing more than stacking wins. They are showing growth.
Thursday’s victory at Brooklyn pushed San Antonio’s streak to 11 straight and capped an undefeated February, just the third perfect month in franchise history.
“It feels like the players are finding different ways to win,” coach Mitch Johnson said, via Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. “That’s a sign of growth.”
The Spurs did not dominate every night. But they adjusted. Different players stepped forward on different evenings, and the team found ways to close games even when it was not at its sharpest.
“Does it mean it was perfect? Not at all,” Victor Wembanyama told reporters. “But looking back, it’s never really perfect. So it’s pretty satisfying.”
For a young roster still learning how to win, February offered something more than numbers in the standings. It offered proof.
