The Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams that have expressed trade interest in Washington Wizards point guard Tyus Jones, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday.
But the Wizards won’t part with Jones easily. This despite the fact they are expected to be sellers at the deadline as they continue to rebuild under first-year team president Michael Winger.
“The Wizards value Jones as a potential piece going forward and are open to re-signing him in free agency this summer,” Scotto wrote. “As recently reported by HoopsHype, Washington would covet a future first-round pick to consider parting with Jones.”
Jones, 27, is in his first season with the Wizards after starting his career with the Memphis Grizzlies. He is viewed as the consummate point guard and team player.
This season, he is averaging 12.2 points and 6.3 assists, both career highs, shooting 49 percent from the field and 39 percent on 3-pointers.
Washington is also said to be open to trading forward Kyle Kuzma, center Daniel Gafford and others.
