Rival teams have begun calling the Spurs about the availability of point guard Dejounte Murray and Derrick White ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline, per Zach Lowe of ESPN.
White has already been linked to the Hawks, as we relayed earlier this week.
Murray, 25, is 6-foot-4 and is averaging 19.2 points, 9.1 assists and 8.4 rebounds in 44 games. He is frequently mentioned as an All-Star possibility despite the Spurs’ overall struggles.
“At just $15.4 million for this season, Murray is an inexpensive upgrade for almost any team at the point guard position,” RealGM wrote.
White, 27, is also 6-4 and capable of handling both backcourt positions. He is averaging 14.2 points, 5.6 assists and 3.5 boards.
“White is in the first year of a four-year, $68 million extension,” RealGM wrote. “While his shooting has slipped, White is seen as a solid two-way player that can play either guard position.”
San Antonio rarely makes in-season trades, but given the fact it may not be a playoff team as constructed, that philosophy may change. Plus, as we saw earlier this year, the Spurs already traded guard Bryn Forbes to the Nuggets.
