The Spurs are signing center Charles Bassey to a two-way contract, per multiple reports, including Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.
Bassey, 21 is 6-foot-11 and was originally drafted by the 76ers with the No. 53 overall pick in 2021. He appeared in 23 games with the Sixers as a rookie last season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds.
He then spent the summer with Philadelphia before being waived on Oct. 13.
In order to sign Bassey, the Spurs will have to release one of their current two way players — either rookie small forward Dominick Barlow or rookie small forward Jordan Hall.
It appears that Hall will most likely be the one to go, per Orsborn. Either way, Orsborn referred to Bassey an “intriguing” young prospect for the Spurs.
Spurs are set to sign intriguing 6-foot-11, 235-pound free agent center and former St. Anthony star Charles Bassey to a two-way contract this afternoon.
To make room for the native of Nigeria, Spurs will have to waive one of their current two-way players (likely Jordan Hall).
