Suns guard Bradley Beal will be sidelined for at least one week as he recovers from a left hamstring strain, coach Mike Budenholzer said, via Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic.
Beal is scheduled to have his injury reevaluated after missing the team’s next two games.
Beal sustained the injury during Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, exiting the game after just 15 minutes of play. The Suns initially labeled the issue as left hamstring soreness but later revised the diagnosis to a strain.
The 31-year-old guard missed Monday’s victory over the Raptors and will also sit out upcoming matchups against the Bulls on Wednesday and the Cavaliers on Friday. Beal’s status will be reassessed ahead of next Monday’s game against the Bucks.
It has been a challenging season for Beal, who has struggled with multiple injuries. While he has appeared in 48 of Phoenix’s 69 games, Beal has also missed time due to calf, toe, ankle, knee, and elbow ailments.
“I feel bad for Brad,” Budenholzer said. “We’ve just got to find a way to try to keep him healthy. Hopefully, get him right.”
In 48 appearances (33 starts), Beal has averaged 17.3 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.4 rebounds in 32.2 minutes per game, shooting .505 from the field, .395 from three, and .813 from the free-throw line.
With Beal unavailable, two-way player Collin Gillespie took his place in the starting lineup Monday, marking his first career NBA start. Gillespie, who played 23 minutes on Sunday and 16 on Monday, has averaged just 8.0 minutes per game this season but is expected to continue contributing in a larger role over the coming week.
