Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was arrested early Friday morning in Scottsdale, Arizona on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to reports from TMZ and The Arizona Republic, Brooks was pulled over for traffic violations around 1 a.m. and charged roughly 30 minutes later.

Police transported Brooks to Scottsdale City Jail, where he was booked and later released around 3:30 a.m.

TMZ reported that Brooks was respectful and cooperative with officers during the process.

The Suns issued a brief statement after the news surfaced.

“We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information,” the team said. “We have no further comment at this time.”

Any potential discipline from the NBA would likely come later. The league typically waits for legal proceedings to unfold before determining whether a suspension is warranted.

The arrest comes during a strong first season in Phoenix for Brooks, who arrived last summer in the blockbuster trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Suns.

Brooks averaged 20.9 points in 50 games before suffering a fractured left hand last month that required surgery. He remains sidelined and is not expected back until late in the season.
