Report: Suns Interested In Acquiring Draymond Green From Warriors In Kevin Durant Trade

According to NBA insiders Sam Amick, Anthony Slater and David Aldridge of The Athletic, the Phoenix Suns are interested in acquiring Draymond Green from the Golden State Warriors in a Kevin Durant trade

“In exploratory conversations, the Warriors have only been met with an exorbitant asking price in theoretical structures — essentially everything of future value — considering the tricky spot the Suns seem to find themselves,” Amick, Slater and Aldridge wrote. “League sources say four-time All-Star forward Draymond Green, who has an established relationship with fellow Michigan State alum and Suns owner Mat Ishbia, is among the Warriors players Phoenix is known to covet.”

Durant has not requested a trade from the Suns. However, the NBA legend is being pursued by the Warriors, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks.

One of the top scorers in NBA history, Durant played three seasons with the Warriors. He won back-to-back Finals MVPs in 2017 and 2018.

The Suns are trying to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat, but since Bradley Beal won’t waive his no-trade clause, they might have to trade Durant to get Butler.

“With Butler continuing to angle his way toward the Suns, Phoenix might need to move Durant for the kind of returns that allows it to enhance its offer to Miami,” Amick, Slater and Aldridge wrote. “As of now, league sources say the Suns’ messaging about their willingness to trade Durant is different depending on the team.”

Green has spent his entire career with the Warriors. He has a close relationship with Stephen Curry.

However, Golden State wouldn’t hesitate to trade Green if the deal landed them Durant.

The Suns are Warriors are struggling this season. Both teams just watched the rival Los Angeles Lakers acquire Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks.

It will be fascinating to see if Durant is traded this week.
