But L.A. couldn’t keep up after halftime. The Suns blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers 36-18 in a dominant stretch that saw Booker and Jusuf Nurkic combine for 21 points.
Nurkic, who had a rough start, finished with a solid 12 points and 12 rebounds. Grayson Allen chipped in 10 points off the bench, while Royce O’Neale’s trio of 3-pointers helped push the lead to insurmountable levels.
The Suns also clamped down defensively, holding the Lakers to a woeful 23.5% from beyond the arc.
The takeaway? When Durant plays, the Suns are nearly unstoppable, sitting at 9-1 with him in the lineup.
