The Suns and Raptors have at least kicked the tires on a small deal, but nothing appears close.
Gerald Bourguet of Suns After Dark reports that Phoenix and Toronto discussed a trade framework that would have sent center Nick Richards to the Raptors in exchange for Ochai Agbaji and a second-round pick. The talks did not gain much traction.
According to Bourguet, the Suns are not in a hurry to make a move, are lukewarm on Agbaji as a fit, and were underwhelmed by the second-round compensation Toronto was willing to include.
While it is unclear which pick was discussed, neither of the Raptors’ 2026 second-rounders would carry much value if the season ended today. Toronto’s own pick would project near No. 52, while the Lakers’ second-rounder that the Raptors control would land in the mid to high 50s.
In other words, this one appears filed under exploratory rather than active, with Phoenix content to wait for a better opportunity if it moves Richards at all.
