Shooting guard Devin Booker stated the obvious in saying there’s room for improvement with the Suns.
“We still have to figure out what we’re comfortable with,” Booker said, via Sam Amick of The Athletic. “That’s the sacrifice of playing with super-talented teams and understanding that each night could be anybody’s night. Once you find an identity and start playing a certain way, it comes. I think making teams react to us instead of us adjusting to other teams would be a big thing because I still feel confident that we have the better team going into every night.”
In other words, Phoenix believes its future is still bright.
“We’ve got so many dynamic players, man, and sometimes, we don’t want to step on each other’s toes,” forward Kevin Durant said, via Amick. “It might cause some confusion out on the floor, but I think that’s a healthy thing to have as a team. As long as you’re letting guys know that, ‘Hey, we need you to be you, or we need you to take a step back,’ then (they’ll figure it out). Guys are figuring that out. So I hate to make any excuses, but if we had spent more time on the court together, we’d be fine. At the same time, I feel like there’s still games we should have won.”
The Suns (21-18) have won seven of their last 10 and are hoping some good health from Booker, Durant and guard Bradley Beal will indeed take them places. Right now, they don’t look nearly as good as the defending champion Nuggets or some others out West. But yes, there’s still plenty of time.
