The Wizards are sending shooting guard Bradley Beal in a deal for point guard Chris Paul, guard Landry Shamet, multiple second-round picks, and pick swaps, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Washington had opened trade talks centered on Beal last week, with new team president Michael Winger clearly aiming to rest the roster. Clearing Beal’s contract from the books will open up cap space and give the Wizards picks and assets with which to make deals.
Meanwhile, the Suns are adding Beal to forward Kevin Durant and shooting guard Devin Booker to give themselves a new big three. Per reports, Wizards guard Jordan Goodwin is also headed to the Suns in the deal.
Paul is not expected to stick in Washington, though. Instead, he could be waived or sent to the Clippers in another trade.
