The Sun have waived shooting guard Saben Lee, according to the NBA transactions log.
Lee, 23, is 6-foot-5 and was just recently waived by the Jazz, then claimed by the Suns. He was originally drafted by the Pistons with the No. 38 overall pick in 2020, GM Troy Weaver‘s first draft in Detroit. Lee appeared in 48 games as a rookie, and then 37 games last year, averaging 5.6 points each season.
He was then a part of the Pistons-Jazz deal that sent wing Bojan Bogdanovic to Detroit late last month. Lee was viewed as being included for salary-matching purposes.
Lee very well could be headed back to Michigan with the Motor City Cruise, the “hybrid” G League affiliate of both the Suns and Pistons. Though the Suns can have affiliate players with any G League team, and may opt to keep Lee closer.
This is all assuming Lee clears waivers and isn’t claimed by another NBA club, of course.
