The defending Western Conference champion Suns have waived guard Ty-Shon Alexander, as relayed by Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic.
Alexander, 23, is 6-foot-3 and spent last season as a rookie on a two-way contract. He failed to crack the Suns’ rotation and spent the majority of his time in the G League with the Canton Charge, averaging 9.3 points and 2.9 rebounds.
He also was a member of the Suns’ summer league squad, compiling averages of 11.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
Alexander played his college ball at Creighton and went undrafted in 2020. He actually made a brief appearance in Game 3 of the Finals, as the Suns made an inspirational run before falling to the eventual champion Bucks.
Along with his play for the Suns, Alexander appeared in 15 G League games, averaging 9.3 points and 1.9 assists.
Phoenix has both two-way slots available, as well as a standard roster spot, for a total of 14 players on the roster ahead of training camp.
