The Lakers have cancelled practice Tuesday after guard/forward Talen Horton-Tucker entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols, as relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Assuming all other tests return negative, the Lakers still intend to make Tuesday’s planned flight to Dallas to begin a three-game road trip, per Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register.
Horton-Tucker, 21, is averaging career-highs of 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists after returning from injury. He had appeared in 15 games entering Tuesday night, starting 12 of them.
The news comes at a time when trade rumors are swirling around LA, with the Lakers being linked to both 76ers guard/forward Ben Simmons (story) and Pistons forward Jerami Grant (story), among others.
Also, no less than seven teams have contacted the Lakers about Horton-Tucker’s trade availability, per veteran insider Jordan Schultz of the Pull-Up Podcast. But because of THT’s production this year, the Lakers will be “hesitant” to move him, Schultz noted.
