Thunder center/forward Chet Holmgren has been working out and looks “really good,” team president Sam Presti said, via Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire.
Holmgren was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but missed all of his rookie season after suffering a foot injury during a pro-am game last August.
“It is our hope that he’ll be out there, our expectation,” Presti said of Holmgren playing in the Las Vegas Summer League. “Chet is doing great. He has had a great offseason. It is one of those things where you, sometimes, don’t appreciate the consistency of somebody because all through the draft process and since the end of the season, you’re in the building every day and he is out there — same time, same schedule — just monotonously putting in all of this work with our coaches.
“He has done a great job. He has followed the plan and looks really good. We’re excited for him, but I don’t think anybody could be more excited than he is.”
Holmgren will be eligible to win Rookie of the Year in 2024, given that he did not play a game last season.
The NBA Summer League in Vegas runs from July 7-17.
