With the NBA Draft just about a week away, the Thunder have already traded one pick. Perhaps they will now acquire another one.
Per Jonathan Givony of ESPN, head of basketball operations Sam Presti and Thunder are looking to trade up from the No. 12 overall pick and land another spot in the top 10. They already own the No. 2 (and No. 34 overall in the second round).
Earlier this week, they agreed to send their No. 30 pick to the Nuggets for veteran power forward JaMychal Green. So clearly, Presti is using all his draft assets to do more than just draft prospects — and clearly will not hesitate to move around in the draft.
If Oklahoma City does move up, Givoney reported Purdue guard Jaden Ivey and Kentucky guard Shaedon Sharpe would be among their targets. That would likely mean needing to get into the top five.
As an aside, word has it that the Kings are open to moving out of their spot at No. 4. That said, Givony did not link the Thunder to the Kings.
The Trail Blazers (No. 7) and Pelicans (No. 8) are also reportedly among those looking to trade their picks for immediate help. Does the Thunder have anyone who fits such a description? From the sounds of things, Presti and his team are in the process of finding out.
