The Thunder have waived forward/center Usman Garuba, the team announced in a press release.
Garuba, 21, appeared in 75 games with the Rockets last season, averaging 3.0 points and 4.1 rebounds. He was acquired by Oklahoma City in a July trade with the Hawks in a deal that sent guard Patty Mills to Atlanta.
Garuba also spent his rookie year of 2021-22 with the Rockets, and spent plenty of time that season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G League.
He was selected with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after playing for Spanish power Real Madrid, where he was selected a EuroLeague Rising Star.
Garuba is currently playing for the Spanish national team in the FIBA World Cup.
