The Grizzlies have agreed to a trade that will send point guard Patrick Beverley to the Timberwolves in exchange for shooting guard Jarrett Culver and power forward Juan Hernangomez, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Memphis has just acquired Beverley, along with point guard Rajon Rondo and center Daniel Oturu the day before, sending guard Eric Bledsoe to the Clippers in return.
Beverley, 33, is 6-foot-1 and averaged 7.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 37 games last season. He remains one of the NBA’s peskiest backcourt defenders.
Culver, 22, is 6-6 and has yet to fulfill his promise as the No. 6 overall draft pick in 2019. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 34 games last season.
Hernangomez, 25, is 6-9 and coming off a promising season in which he compiled averages of 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in 52 games.
It will be interesting to see if the Grizzlies, who have undergone a bit of a face lift, will hang on to Rondo and several of the other new acquisitions. They also acquired starting center Steven Adams from the Pelicans as part of the Bledsoe trade earlier this offseason.
Beverley will be joining a Wolves backcourt that already includes the likes of No. 1 overall pick Anthony Edwards and point guard D’Angelo Russell.
