The Jazz are sending center Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, as part of a trade that has been rumored and is now coming to fruition.
In exchange, Utah is landing Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro and multiple first-round picks, per Wojnarowski.
Gobert, 30, is 7-foot-1 and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. There has been some reported awkwardness with star guard Donovan Mitchell, however, and the Jazz made Gobert available at the ed of the season.
He has spent all nine years of his career in Utah, averaging 15.6 points and a career-high 14.7 rebounds in 66 games last season, as well as 2.1 blocks.
The Jazz just hired a new coach in Will Hardy, a former Celtics assistant, and are also trading starting forward Royce O’Neale to the Nets, as we relayed here.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are coming off a run to the first round of the playoffs and can now pair Gobert next to Karl-Anthony Towns to give them a pair of ultra-big lineup.
This is a breaking story and we will have more as it develops.
