The Timberwolves have officially signed center Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract via the hardship exception, the team announced in a press release.
Monroe, 31, is 6-foot-11 and has been playing with the G League’s Capital City Go Go, the Wizards’ affiliate. But he has nine years of NBA experience, including stints with the Pistons, Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, 76ers and Suns.
He most recently played in the NBA in 2018-19 season, when he appeared in 43 games overall. He is averaging 12.3 points and 9.0 rebounds with Capital City.
Prior to signing in the G League, Monroe played a season in Germany and a season in Russia.
Minnesota currently has eight players in protocols, so the Monroe signing undoubtedly makes sense.
