The Timberwolves have officially signed guard Austin Rivers, the team announced in a press release.
Rivers 29, is 6-foot-4 and spent the previous season-and-a-half with the Nuggets, averaging 6.0 points and 1.3 assists in 67 games last season. He has also spent time with the Knicks, Wizards, Rockets, Clippers and Pelicans.
Per Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News, Rivers agreed to a deal for the veteran’s minimum.
“Rivers joins a revamped Minnesota team that offloaded much of its veteran depth to add three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert. He’ll serve as a helpful ball-handler off the bench behind projected backcourt starters D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards,” wrote Alex Kirschenbaum of Hoops Rumors.
Rivers, of course, is the son of 76ers coach Doc Rivers.
