Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards and small forward Taurean Prince have entered health and safety protocols, the team announced in a press release.
Each player will have to sit out 10 days or return two negative tests in a 24-hour span before returning.
Edwards was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and is having a fine season. Prince was acquired from the Cavaliers before the season as part of the Ricky Rubio trade.
“Half of the league’s 30 teams now have at least one player in the health and safety protocols,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors. “The Wolves are the ninth team with multiple players in the protocols.”
The NBA reportedly has a vaccination rate of 97 percent, but like the NFL and NHL, is experiencing a major outbreak of positive tests and players entering protocol. The Associated Press reported Thursday evening that about 8 percent of NBA players were in protocol.
