Timberwolves Betting Favorite To Acquire Suns’ Kevin Durant

The Minnesota Timberwolves are the new betting favorite to acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns this offseason.

The Timberwolves tried to trade for Durant at the February NBA trade deadline and they are expected to pursue the future Hall of Famer again this offseason, sources told Hoops Wire.

Durant doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, but he’s interested in playing for the Timberwolves, sources said.

One of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Durant turns 37 in the fall. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

Minnesota made the conference finals again this year. Anthony Edwards and Co. lost to the Dallas Mavericks in five games last year and fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games this year.

Durant and Edwards are close. They were teammates on Team USA last summer. Edwards has said multiple times that Durant is his favorite player of all time.

Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

Since leaving the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2019, Durant hasn’t gotten back to the NBA Finals. He’s also been swept in the first round of the playoffs twice.

Durant has one year left on his contract. He’ll make $54,708,609 next season.
