The Minnesota Timberwolves appear to be putting any trade chatter involving Donte DiVincenzo to rest — at least for now.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Wolves have “zero interest” in moving the veteran guard, despite his rocky start to the season.
DiVincenzo was brought in as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks, with Julius Randle and others coming back to Minnesota. But with his shooting percentages down and his impact uneven, it didn’t take long for speculation to arise about whether he might be flipped in another trade.
It makes sense on paper, given that DiVincenzo’s $11.4 million salary this season — and $24.5 million owed over the next two years — fits the mold of a contract that could be moved with relative ease.
Still, the Wolves appear unwilling to pull the trigger, likely betting on a turnaround for the sharpshooter. DiVincenzo’s defensive instincts and ability to space the floor made him an attractive target in the first place, and the Wolves are clearly hoping those attributes will shine through once he finds his rhythm.
Let’s not forget, this is a guy who played key roles on winning teams in Milwaukee and Golden State.
For now, Minnesota’s front office seems committed to giving DiVincenzo time to settle in alongside Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley, and Rudy Gobert. Chemistry takes time, and the Wolves clearly believe they have the pieces to be a force in the West. They’re also in no rush to make a move, especially with their recent strong play.
If anything changes, the Wolves could revisit the situation closer to the trade deadline. But for now, fans can expect to see DiVincenzo in a Timberwolves jersey for the foreseeable future.
