The Timberwolves intend to sign veteran center Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Monroe, 31, is 6-foot-11 and has been playing with the G League’s Capital City Go Go, the Wizards’ affiliate. But he has nine years of NBA experience, including stints with the Pistons, Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, 76ers and Suns.
He most recently played in the NBA in 2018-19 season, when he appeared in 43 games overall. He is averaging 12.3 points and 9.0 rebounds with Capital City.
Prior to signing in the G League, Monroe played a season in Germany and a season in Russia.
Minnesota currently has eight players in protocols, so the Monroe signing makes sense.
