The Timberwolves are waiving two-way forward Matt Ryan, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
In the process, they will be converting the training camp contract of guard Daishen Nix to a two-way deal, Charania added.
Ryan, 26, is 6-foot-7 and started last season with the Lakers, burying a game-winning shot, before being waived in December. He signed a two-way deal with the Timberwolves about a week later.
In 34 games overall, he averaged 3.6 points and shot 38 percent on 3-pointers. He also appeared in seven games with the G League’s Iowa Wolves, averaging 19.0 points.
Ryan has also spent time with the Celtics, appearing in one game in 2021-22. He played college ball at Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and Chattanooga and hails from New Rochelle, N.Y.
The Timberwolves re-signed him to a two-way deal at the end of September.
