The Maine Celtics have acquired veteran guard/forward Tony Snell from the G League available player pool, the team announced in a press release.
Snell, 31, is 6-foot-6 and last played in the NBA last season, appearing in 38 games with the Trail Blazers and another 15 with the Pelicans. Maine, of course, is the Celtics’ G League affiliate.
Snell was originally selected by the Bulls with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He has also spent time with the Bucks, Pistons and Hawks, appearing in 601 career NBA games and carrying averages of 6.1 points and 40 percent shooting on 3-pointers.
A free agent since the end of last season, Snell had a workout with the Lakers in November but was never signed. If he can shoot from the perimeter in the G League as he has regularly done in the NBA, a return may not be far behind.
