One NBA analyst proposed a three-team trade idea between the Washington Wizards, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following mock trade between the Wizards, Heat and Magic:
Miami Heat Receive: F Kyle Kuzma
Orlando Magic Receive: PG Malcolm Brogdon, G/F Josh Richardson, 2026 second-round pick (via Los Angeles Lakers)
Washington Wizards Receive: G Cole Anthony, F Jett Howard, F Nikola Jović, F Duncan Robinson, 2029 first-round pick (top-5 protected, via Miami Heat*)
Kuzma averaged 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.7 blocks for the Wizards in 2023-24 while shooting 46.3% from the field, 33.6% from beyond the arc and 77.5% from the free-throw line. He’ll make $23.5 million next season.
A talented scorer, Kuzma has career averages of 17.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks with the Los Angeles Lakers and Wizards. He won the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers over the Heat in six games at the Walt Disney World bubble.
“After finishing as the No. 8 seed in the East and going through the play-in tournament last year, the Heat could use a little more firepower to get them back toward the top of the East,” Swartz wrote. “Kuzma, 29, averaged 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and made 35.5 percent of his catch-and-shoot threes last season. He’d be an ideal starting power forward between Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo as a scoring threat who can space the floor and serve as a willing passer.”
Brogdon averaged 15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks for the Portland Trail Blazers last season while shooting 44.0% from the field, 41.2% from beyond the arc and 81.9% from the free-throw line. He’ll make $22.5 million next season in the final year of his contract.
The Blazers traded Brogdon to the Wizards this offseason. Brogdon has career averages of 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks with the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics and Blazers.
“Signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was great for Orlando, although he does little to improve its offensive creation issue,” Swartz wrote. “Bringing in a proven point guard such as Brogdon (15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 41.2 percent from three) would inject some life into this Orlando offense.”
