One NBA analyst proposed that the Golden State Warriors acquire Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls for Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Gary Payton II and Kevon Looney.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea:
Golden State Warriors receive: Zach LaVine, Jevon Carter and 2026 first-round pick (top-three protected)
Chicago Bulls receive: Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Gary Payton II and Kevon Looney
According to NBA reporter K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, the Sacramento Kings and Warriors remain interested in trading for LaVine. The Bulls and LaVine want to part ways.
LaVine played in only 25 games in 2023-24. He underwent season-ending right foot surgery in February.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, the Bulls offered LaVine to the Warriors for Wiggins and Chris Paul. The Warriors said no and waived Paul shortly after. Paul then agreed to a deal with the San Antonio Spurs.
A two-time All-Star, LaVine averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks in 2023-24 while shooting 45.2% from the field, 34.9% from beyond the arc and 85.4% from the free-throw line.
A UCLA product, LaVine has career averages of 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Bulls. He has a 216-364 record.
LaVine signed a five-year, $215 million contract with the Bulls in July 2022. He’ll make $43 million next season and $45 million in 2025-26.
Wiggins averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 2023-24 for the Warriors while shooting 45.3% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 75.1% from the free-throw line. The NBA champion will make $26.3 million next season.
The Dubs are trying to trade Wiggins this offseason. He and LaVine both began their careers with the Timberwolves.
The Warriors tried to acquire Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers, but the two sides couldn’t agree to a deal. George signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. Golden State also lost Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks.
