The Trail Blazers have agreed to a training camp contract with center/forward Marquese Chriss, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Chriss, 24, is 6-foot-9 and appeared in just two games with the Warriors last season before suffering a broken right fibula. He played 59 games with the Warriors in 2019-20, averaging a career-high 9.3 points and 6.2 rebounds.
He was traded to the Spurs in late March, then waived just a couple days later.
Per Charania, Chriss has fully recovered from the injury and is expected to compete for a spot on the roster. He’ll have some hearty competition, as the Blazers’ big men rotation already consists of the likes of Jusuf Nurkic, Robert Covington and recently acquired Larry Nance Jr., among others.
Chriss becomes the second younger veteran to receive an invite to Blazers camp in the past week, joining point guard Dennis Smith Jr.
