The Trail Blazers have agreed to a training camp contract with veteran forward Patrick Patterson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Patterson, 32, is 6-8 and appeared in 32 games with the Clippers last season, compiling averages of 5.2 points and 2.0 rebounds. He has also spent time with the Thunder, Raptors, Kings and Rockets.
He becomes the latest in several veteran signings for the Blazers, who also reportedly invited point guard Dennis Smith Jr. and forward Marquese Chriss to camp.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype first reported that the Blazers had an interest in Patterson, as well as in fellow forward Michael Beasley.
Portland currently has 13 players under contract, so will need to add at least one more for opening night. That gives the likes of Patterson, Smith and Chriss a decent shot to make the team.
“However, that may be the only spot up for grabs — the Blazers could opt to keep the 15th roster spot open to start the season in order to reduce their projected luxury tax bill,” explained Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
